Someone who scores low on the physical environment slice of their life might want coaching on de-cluttering their life or they might want to look at what it is in that environment that is not satisfactory, do they or can they move houses, move countries, improve their environment by personalising it or tidying it up …? Career Rate how satisfied you are with that environment? Do you need to improve anything in that home or work environment? Usually that’s your home environment or your work environment. The first one is your physical environment. You can label each of the slices whatever you like but I am going to give you an example of the eight quadrants that are usually used for the wheel of life. Then you look at each quadrant and rate your satisfaction level with each area of your life. Each quadrant represents a slice of your life. If you think of the wheel of life like a pizza or a circle that you will divide into eight quadrants. This tool can be used any time you’re feeling off-balance, we recommend checking in regularly to see what tweaks can be made.The Wheel of Life is a coaching tool that can be use to support clients to assess where they are now and then set goals and prioritise action. With regular sessions, coaching keeps you accountable to your actions, giving you the motivation you need to follow through and keep going. Having someone objective like a coach to talk to can help you uncover what’s achievable for you and what would make the most impact.Ī coach can also support you with setting goals that will lead to real change. Once they’ve used the tool and identified areas to work on, the coach can offer some much welcomed support, guidance and accountability.įiguring out what steps you need to take to bring yourself back into balance can be tough. The wheel of life tool is used by coaches to help clients uncover what they truly need to feel balanced and content. Ask yourself how you can prioritise these areas, what steps can you take to gently lift these scores and feel more balanced? It’s time to create an action plan to make this happen. Now you know which areas need attention and what your ideal score for those areas would be. What would it look like for them to be at an ideal score? Remember, you can return to this tool time and time again - it’s OK for priorities to change. Instead we would encourage you to think about what an ‘ideal’ score would be for each area.Ĭonsider your circumstances, what time and resources you have available and which areas you really want to focus on. While many of us may want to achieve a perfect score of 10 in each area, this is unrealistic and will likely only make us feel worse about ourselves as we pursue an impossibility. How does it look? Can you see where your balance may be off? Consider your ideal score for each area Simply connect the dots to form your circle. Mark your scores on each spoke with a dot or cross. Take time with this step and consider how much attention you’re currently giving each area. If everything in that area is perfect and you’re happy with it, it’s a 10, if there’s work needed, it’ll score lower. Now is the time to rate each area of your life on a scale from 0-10. Once you’ve picked these, name each spoke. These are just some ideas, pick the areas that feel most relevant to you right now. Need a little inspiration?
